Bad News: Donald Trump, Elon Musk via DOGE, and Republicans are cutting vital federal programs that benefit millions of Americans and have eliminated jobs for more than 280,000 federal workers, while 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck and struggle to afford the high costs of living. 

 

Good News: Democrats still control 15 state legislatures (blue trifecta states) where they can pass state-level Job Guarantee policies to create living-wage jobs by investing in beneficial public programs and services while uniting working-class voters across race, geography, and political divide. 

What is a Job Guarantee?

 

A Job Guarantee is a government program designed to provide employment opportunities for individuals unable to secure full-time work. This program would create living-wage jobs through government investments in healthcare, education, infrastructure, climate change solutions, and other beneficial public programs and services.  
 
By reducing the fear of unemployment, a Job Guarantee would also increase the bargaining power of all working people, from the bottom up, to gain higher wages and better working conditions.  ​​​

We, the undersigned voters, urge Democratic state leaders in blue trifecta states to support and pass state-level Job Guarantee policies to create living-wage jobs for the unemployed, underemployed, and low-income residents by investing in socially beneficial public programs and services. 
 
While the Trump administration, via DOGE led by Elon Musk, cut vital federal programs that benefit millions of Americans and eliminate jobs for more than 280,000 federal workers. Democratic-led state legislatures can take matters into their own hands by passing state-level legislation to establish pilot programs and research to create a model for implementing a Job Guarantee.  
 
Promoting a Job Guarantee can unite working-class and low-income voters across race, geography, and even political divides based on polling that shows 70% of U.S. voters support this policy.* A Job Guarantee can heal our divided nation by creating an economy that benefits everyone from the bottom up, not just the wealthy.
